Renowned Majorcan graphic designer Pep Carrio has been commissioned to create the poster for this year’s FICX 2014.
News of the programme and novelties are filtering through little by little:
Official section: Feature films that combine talent with novice directors who have won awards at major international festivals.
AnimaFICX: The most outstanding animation films on the international scene.
Enfants terribles 2014: The best children’s films of the moment. Fourteen titles recommended for different age groups.
Bill Plympton Cycle: A special cycle which will pay tribute to US director, illustrator and animator Bill Plympton, considered “the king of indie animation”.
As a novelty this year, a new section has been created: CONVERGENCES,a section that aims to be a meeting point for critics from all over Spain regardless of style, taste or experience. Five films rescued from oblivion, to be reclaimed and defended for a variety of reasons.
Filipino Director Brillante Mendoza, one of the leading figures in contemporary Asian cinema, will be honoured for his entire career within FICX.
They will be nine intense days bursting with activities, discussions, parties and, above all, screenings that will make Gijón the capital of international cinema for a few days.
