This year, as every year, Gijón is getting ready for the most festive week of the year, the  Semana Grande, which, as is usual,is filled with shows and fun for all tastes and ages.

The opening ceremony, on 9th August, starts with a speech in Plaza Mayor, followed by folk music and groups and the party then continues on Playa de Poniente at with Auryn,

On 10th August the concerts starts at noon in Plaza Mayor with Candela y los Supremos. Others performances this day are Diego “El cigala” and Julieta Venegas.

On Sunday, the group  Kitty, Daisy and Lewis will be performing in Plaza Mayor. The shows go on  with the Show Dios Salve a la Reina (God saves the Queen), musical tribute to Queen on Playa de Poniente.

On the 12th,   we enjoy with the Panchos concert and their romantic music in Plaza Mayor and Rosa will will take the stage on the Poniente.  At night of 13th August, Osibisa will be performing in Plaza Mayor and Efecto Pasillo will be playing pop rock with reggae on the Beach.

On 14th August, don’t miss the  Great Firework Display! At midnight, the firework display that everyone has been waiting for will be held, on Cerro Santa Catalina, Gijón. The group Orquesta Bioritmos liven up us in Parque de los Pericones and La ruta del Rock will provide the music and make us move to the beat in Poniente. Finally, Distrito Xoven will be waiting to perform for us in Paseo de Begoña.

On 15th August, the Festive Week ends with the traditional Danza Prima y el Restallón  in Paseo del Muro de San Lorenzo; this is a special moment where we will all hold hands with our relatives and friends, to remember local people and visitors and bid farewell to the festivities until next year.
