For a whole month, from 18th April to 18th May, Gijon Sound Festival will fill the streets, bars and several cultural centres in an evocation of Asturian music ranging from 1979 right up to the present day. The festival will bring a variety of Spanish musicians to the city to play together in two unforgettable concerts.
A special atmosphere including sets by present-day Asturian bands in different parts of town. Two exhibitions will be held: one showing photographs, posters and tickets from the Xixón Sound musical movement, and the other featuring musical instruments with heaps of “history”. There will also be a demo competition, with the chance to attend a concert featuring the finalists. Screenings, workshops and courses… and so much more that would be impossible to sum up in only a few words. You’ll have to come see it; so check out all the updated information on the Gijón Sound Festival website and on the Gijón Tourism website.
Two concerts will be held at the LABoral Art and Industrial Creation Centre to put the finishing touches to a month heaving with sounds. The one on 17th May will feature a review from 1990 to the present, including sets by Bubble Gum, Doctor Explosion, Igor Paskual, Los Guajes and The Cynics. The concert on 18th May will feature the 80s and 90s, with Jorge Illegal and friends: Jaime Urrutia, Los Rebeldes, Johnny Burning, Sr. Chinarro, Jorge Explosion, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, Josele Santiago, Alto Volto, Julián Hernández (Siniestro Total), in an unrepeatable Spanish rock’n’roll show.
Tickets are on sale at Softickets.com, Librería Paradiso and Infogijón offices. The two-day ticket costs €25, while a one-day ticket, bought in advance, costs €15.
We look forward to seeing you at the Gijón Sound Festival!
