In our recent publications, we showed you some of the options Gijón offers for enjoying the Christmas holidays with your children; December is, of course, a very special month for youngsters, since it is a time for receiving presents, celebrating, amusing themselves and having fun.
As a kind of “mini guide” for spending Christmas with your children, we’d like to remind you that Gijón has a great many events, workshops and activities on offer.
Today, December 10th, at 6 pm marks the official arrival of Christmas, when the Christmas lights are turned on. In accordance with the tradition, the boys and girls are entrusted with the task of turning on the Christmas lights in the main square (Plaza Mayor).
During this period, you can also visit the Nativity Scene created by the Association of Nativity Scene Creators of Gijón, between 17th December and 6th January.
To make sure the children’s letters reach the Three Kings, Prince Ben-Alí will receive you on the 27th December in Paseo de Begoña. On the 28th, you can listen to the tales of Princess Sherezade,” who has been unable to stop telling stories since her childhood, when she learned that telling stories and making other people happy was the best job in the world”.
If you want to spend a really spectacular holiday, visit the workshops organised by the Aquarium of Gijón and experience an Aquatic Christmas!!
As is customary each year, Mercaplana will be opening, with its 60,000+ metres of fun and amusement. This year, it also organises new workshops for children aged from 11 to 13: Fingerskating, rap, graffiti and dance. Mercaplana will be open from 25th December to 4th January.
On 29th December, there is something for the whole family to enjoy: Rebufaplanetes, a show with bubbles! And on the 30th, the Zoo, the latest adventure by the Yllana company from Madrid, who return here to stage an exceptional performance based on gestures and mime.
